In any case, our latest adventure involves taking the RAV on a road trip to Washington DC. We started off on Monday, March 19 at about 6 a.m. Google maps said it would be around 9 hours but it ended up being 10 or so. This was due to a bunch of detours, driving up and down a whole lot of Allegheny Mountains, fog and highways that were less than great.
We arrived at our hotel in Alexandria, Virginia around 4 p.m. and rested for a bit. Amazingly, this Best Western has a room, right near ours, that is fully stocked with all kinds of drinks and snacks that are free! So we had a snack and drove to the Old Town part of Alexandria. It is a beautiful place with many refurbished old buildings and a nicely developed waterfront.
We wandered around for a while and ended up at Paradiso Pizzeria which was one of the places I had researched before we left. It ended up being a great choice as, along with excellent pizza, it had 180 types of beer! Unfortunately, we only had one each.
This was our Quattro Formaggi pizza with Italian sausage. We'll have to try this one at home I think.
And this is why we like the grocery stores in Virginia!
