Once we were settled, we went out and explored. We found Rue de Mouffetard which is a really neat pedestrian street that is on a hill and contains a large number of cafes, shops and restaurants.
We were walking along and all of a sudden a dance broke out! Unfortunately, I developed a sudden calf cramp and couldn't participate. Quel dommage!
We keep hearing musicians as we walk around. Many cafes will have guys out front like this. It reminds me of being in an old movie.
Our first meal back here was lunch. We've decided to try a few classic French dishes so we went to a cafe while it was raining and had the following.
Marilyn's salad nicoise was composed a little differently than we do it at home and it had anchovies. As you can see though, they are still using sad tomatoes in Paris. Can't wait to get home for mine!
I had the quiche Lorraine which was really good. We actually switched plates after eating half!
We did more sight seeing and went back to the hotel for a bit to rest. We decided on a place for dinner that was recommended by a friend. It's right by the Seine and we weren't disappointed. The place was called Rotisseri du Beaujolais and they featured grilled meats.
Marilyn had coq au vin which came in a cast iron pot.
I had grilled leg of lamb which was different from any lamb I've every had. It looked more like a ham steak but it was very tender and tasted great.
This is my creme brulee which was quite a bit larger than I make at home but, we both agreed it tasted pretty much the same.
Marilyn ordered a degustation dessert! We could have easily shared it, and I actually ended up eating some of it. It had a small creme brulee, chocolate mousse, a floating island and coffee. Good thing we are walking extensively here!
Finally, we were on our way back to the hotel. I had looked up locations for the movie Midnight In Paris and the church where the main character meets the taxi was nearby. I had bookmarked it on my phone and it was easy to find.
Here's Marilyn hoping that the taxi will show up. Notice she's wearing a sweater and looks cold! It was a cool night.
This is a full shot of the church, called St Etienne du Mont.
