Running Back To Saskatoon

Today's song reference is... The Guess Who! We left Bismarck in the rain at 7:00 this morning. North Dakota is really a pleasant place to drive with lots of glacier created topography that is interesting to look at. Today was also our encounter with animals day. Unfortunately, a small bird miscalculated its flight across the highway and bounced off our windshield. Then, a while later, a young deer darted out of a field by the highway right in front of us. Going from 65 mph to 0 mph in a few seconds sure gets the adrenalin flowing! Not long after that, a pheasant took off from the side of the road and glided just over our windshield.

By the time we reached Saskatchewan, the sun was out and we were treated to beautiful blue skies and fluffy clouds. No matter how many times I see it, I'm always impressed by how big the prairie sky looks! Here are a few pictures that I hope give an impression of Saskatchewan.

Marilyn drove for a while once we were in Saskatchewan. Apparently, I get bored very quickly when I'm not driving. As a result I tried taking some pictures out of the open sunroof. I thought this one showed the big sky and road fairly well. And no, I wasn't standing on the seat. I held the camera while seated!

There were endless fields of canola that stretched to the horizon in places.

The view from our hotel in downtown Saskatoon is much nicer than last night's view! That's the South Saskatchewan River to the right. We'll be checking out the walking path there tomorrow if the mosquitoes aren't too brutal. And, Brodie and Shannon's wedding is tomorrow so there should be a few pictures of that as well.
